Why is Acme Rebuild losing margin?
Analysis · live data
Acme Rebuild is at 31% margin vs your 42% target. Three drivers:

Rate leakage — Ravi (Architect) is logging 18 h/wk at a blended rate, not his senior rate. ≈ $4,200 unbilled value.
Scope creep — 22 hours logged beyond the original estimate, never re-quoted.
Unbilled expenses — $1,150 in travel not yet rebilled to the client.

Fixing the rate and rebilling expenses recovers ~9 points of margin.

The problem

Your PSA became a configuration project.

OpenAir is powerful — and famously punishing. Months of implementation. Forms behind forms behind forms. A system so complex that operating it became someone's job title.

Implementation measured in months — and consultants hired to configure the tool you bought to avoid hiring consultants.
Every change is a project — new field, new approval step, new report? File a ticket, wait a sprint.
An interface frozen in time — your consultants live in modern tools all day, then log time in one that isn't.
require receipts on expenses over $200 — warn, don't block
One platform, end to end

A Monday in Clockworth.

Plan the work, staff it, track it, bill it — the whole services cycle in one system that talks back.

09:00 — PLAN

A Gantt that schedules itself.

WBS outline, dependencies with cycle protection, critical path, drag-to-move, edge-resize. Say "push UAT a week" and watch the chain re-flow.

10:30 — STAFF

See your whole bench breathe.

Resource × day heatmap, skill matching, availability search, booking conflicts flagged live. Unstaffed "TBD" slots get matched, then swapped for real people.

14:00 — TRACK

Utilization without the spreadsheet.

Timesheets that take seconds, approval flows that chase people for you, and a live gauge your Monday meeting can actually trust.

16:30 — BILL

From hours to invoice in one sentence.

"Invoice NAB for March." Charges gather, FX stamps, tax computes, rev-rec schedules, the PDF mails itself. Your CFO sees every leg of it.

vs Oracle NetSuite OpenAir

We did the boring work first.

Feature parity with OpenAir isn't our pitch — it's our starting line. Here's the scorecard, in public.

Implementation
Months of consulting engagement
A workspace on day one. Configure by exception — defaults that already fit a services firm.
Operating model
Click through 23 screens to change a rule
Say it. "Block time on closed projects." Same engine, one sentence, fully audited.
Intelligence
APIs that wait to be called
An agent inside the product — MCP-native, confirm-gated, reversible. It acts, you approve.

For the person who signs

Your CFO will ask. Here's the answer.

Revenue recognition

Immediate, milestone, or straight-line — scheduled automatically, visible per project, closed per period.

Multi-currency, stamped

Daily FX sync; every invoice line carries its source amount, currency and rate. No mystery conversions.

Composite tax engine

GST, VAT, HST/PST component stacks — inclusive or exclusive, with per-component breakdown on every invoice.

Period close that locks

Accounting periods seal entries against backdating. The numbers your board sees stop moving.

Budgets & EAC forecasting

TCV, earned value, CPI, estimate-at-complete by two methods — per project, per month, per category.

An audit trail that ends arguments

Who, what, before, after, when — immutable, exportable, and inherited by the AI (it can't see what you can't).

Trust & security

Enterprise posture, minus the enterprise pain.

OAuth 2.1 + PKCE MFA / TOTP Google SSO Role-based access + per-module visibility Postgres row-level security Immutable audit log Proxy access — always attributed Financial fields masked by role GDPR right-to-erasure Per-tenant rate limiting
Questions

Asked before you ask.

Far less painful than staying. Clockworth ships bulk import/export, API keys, and a metadata engine that absorbs your custom fields without code. We map your projects, people, rates and open invoices with you — most firms can run parallel within weeks, not quarters.

It's not loose. Every consequential action is confirm-gated — the agent proposes, you approve. It inherits your permissions (it cannot see masked rates you can't), every command is audited, and everything has an undo. That's stricter than most humans operate.

Services firms of roughly 20–150 people — consultancies, agencies, IT services, engineering shops. Big enough to feel OpenAir's pain, small enough to refuse a six-month implementation.

Recurring schedules, retainers with drawdown, fixed-fee milestones, T&M, write-offs, credit notes, consolidated client invoices, multi-currency with stamped FX, composite tax. If your billing is messier than that, we'd genuinely like to meet you.

Early-access pricing is per-seat with Full and Timesheet-only tiers — deliberately a fraction of a NetSuite + OpenAir stack. Book a demo and we'll quote your exact shape on the call.

Run your firm in English.

Time, made worth it. Be one of the first firms off OpenAir — pilot seats are limited and hands-on; we migrate with you.
